SMS Group has completed the acquisition of Omav S.p.A., supplier of aluminium extrusion lines, acquiring the remaining 75% of the capital still owned by the previous shareholders. OMAV and SMS Group have been cooperating since 2011 as strategic business partners in the supply of complete aluminium extrusion lines and in 2017 they strengthened this cooperation through the acquisition by SMS of a 25% stake in Omav. The success of this partnership has now resulted in a full takeover. After this transaction SMS Group has further expanded its product range in the extrusion plant and forging press sector.

Omav shareholders have been assisted by Equita K Finance (Clairfield Italy) and Clarium as financial advisors and by the firm Allen & Overy as legal advisor. SMS Group was assisted by BDO Tax & Law for the legal aspects of the transaction.

Founded in 1952, Omav is an Italian company with an extensive expertise and a solid reputation in the extrusion industry. The Company, with an annual turnover of about Euro 50 million, is specialized in presses, furnaces, feeding and handling systems and other machinery for aluminium extrusion lines. The Company is based in Italy close to Brescia where the headquarter and three production plants are located. A further production site is based in in China.

The Group, controlled by a family, operates globally through offices and plants all over the world, has an annual turnover of about 3 billion Euro and has about 14.000 employees.
