Smartbox Group, the pioneer of experience gifts, reinforces its position as the market leader in Italy and Europe with the acquisition of Wish Days.
K Finance (Clairfield Italy) was financial advisor to Emozione3 (Wish Days), legal advisor was Studio Pedersoli e Associati. Smartbox Group was advised by PwC for the due diligence issues and by the legal advisor White & Case.
Through this acquisition, Smartbox Group adds “Emozione3” the number 2 Italian experience gift brand, to its product portfolio. Emozione3 joins Smartbox Group’s other leading brands across Europe: Smartbox, Bongo, Buyagift, La Vida Es Bella, Dakotabox and Cadeaubox. This acquisition will contribute to strengthen the group’s strong growth and its leadership in the experience gift market in Europe.
Wish Days is an Italian company established in 2006 in Verona, initially focusing on offering innovative corporate incentive programs based on experiences gifts and experiential on-line vouchers. In late 2009 Wish Days entered the gift box retail market in Italy, with the proprietary brand “Emozione3”, where it rapidly experienced a substantial growth, being today one of the top two players with a market share of over 30%.
Smartbox Group is the worldwide leader in the experience gift market, operating in 10 countries (France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany) with 6 brands: Smartbox, Bongo, Buyagift, La Vida Es Bella, Cadeaubox and Dakotabox. Smartbox Group sold over 5 million experience gifts in 2014 and achieved sales of Euro 400 million. With the acquisition of Emozione3’s 30 million euros of sales, Smartbox Group will exceed Euro 500 million euros in annual consolidated sales in 2016.
